Seen from the top of the castle, from the Passeio das Romeirinhas, which surrounds the fortress, the landscape around Santiago is breathtaking. Inside, the mother church, rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake, includes elements from the previous Gothic temple, built by order of Sant'Iago da Espada.
