Sandcastle is an architectural wonder set amidst the flora and fauna of its surrounding estate in the Eastern Cape. The Villa was designed to imitate the land and boundless seascape; it holds the same innate, organic charisma. The estate’s turrets, reaching through and beyond the double-volume ceilings, invoke a surreal reflection of a termite mound, or a loosely-formed sandcastle. 

Aptly described as ‘African Adobe,’ the interior of the villa has been influenced by a myriad of cultures throughout Africa and South America. Thoughtfully-selected artifacts, tapestries and locally-crafted artworks hang on the property’s undulating walls, while the sunken fireside conversation pit speaks of a bygone time. The 250 hectre land surrounding the villa is a wildlife conservancy, teaming with zebra, giraffe, sable and antelope indigenous to the area. The reserve is also home to smaller mammals, such as the Cape Yellow mongoose, civet and genet. 

The main house has 4 King sized ensuite bedrooms with exceptional views and a further 2 bedrooms in the cottage. There are 2 heated swimming pools, a modern kitchen and several areas for hanging out inside and outside. Access is easy with a helipad and its own private landing strip.

Sandcastle Villa is located on the Sunshine Coast, which receives 305 days of sunshine a year. The weather is very temperate with summer temperatures averaging at 27 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius in the winter.  The warming berg winds, from the Drakensberg in the winter, mean that temperatures can get up to 26 degrees, allowing Sandcastle to be enjoyed year-round.

The Villa is located 75 kilometers From East London and 200 kilometers from Port Elizabeth in a malaria free area of the country. Encompassed by 2 kilometers of largely untouched beachfront, it is the ideal landscape for windswept walks, ocean dips and bush hikes. For those seeking adventure from their stay, Sandcastle offers a length of activities such as game viewing, hiking, surfing, angling, kayaking and mussel picking.
