Large and bright apartment on the third floor of a historic building from the first half of the 18th century, on the central and baroque via Marchese Antonino di Sangiuliano.
The apartment has two exposures, one on via di Sangiuliano and one on a secondary road closed to traffic. The access the property is from the admirable representative staircase equipped with a latest generation elevator in glass and steel. At the entrance the hall which, following a circular path, leads to the large living area, composed of a study, a living room and a dining room, which leads to a bathroom and the laundry room. Adjacent to these rooms there is a bedroom and the kitchen. A hallway isolates the master ensuite bedroom. The complete renovation in 2000 included the replacement of the window frames and shutters, in keeping with the original design, as well as the rebuilding of all the installations. The decorated floors from the early 20th century have also been restored and maintained throughout the apartment.
Designed as a directrix that comes from the sea to plunge then in the heart of baroque Catania, via Antonino di Sangiuliano is undoubtedly one of the arteries symbol of the city, and it narrates, even today, an important part of the history of the etnean town.
At the beginning of the 18th century Catania grew both as an urban centre as a centre of business interest, and around via Sangiuliano were undertaken various works for the construction of Baroque style mansions. Fundamental was the engagement of illustrious Catanian architects, such as Alonzo di Benedetto and Francesco Battaglia, then Girolamo Palazzotto from Messina, Giovan Battista Vaccarini from Palermo and Stefano Ittar from Tuscany.
Throughout its course, which starts from the intersection with via VI Aprile and ends on top of the hill Montevergine, are placed very prestigious palaces, together with numerous hotels that welcome each year thousands of tourists and visitors from around the world. Interestingly, the peculiarity shared by the majority of the buildings, which in very rare exceptions exceed the height of the third floor, in order to avoid the risk of collapses during natural disasters such as those experienced on the island in the second half of the 16th century. Moreover, in the immediate neighborhoods of Via Sangiuliano are situated several theaters of the city, such as the magnificent Massimo Bellini Theatre.
