The property is in a picturesque village, in the inland of the municipality Platanias, on a hillside with northwest orientation from where the views are fantastic above a verdant plain and up to the sea. The building was constructed in the 1920s as an oil mill, which operated until 1980. The current owners restored it and currently functions as a multipurpose space that often hosts contemporary art exhibitions. Inside the building all the mechanical equipment of the oil mill has been preserved, which dates from the 60's. During the restoration, the owners have also tried to keep as many parts of the building as possible intact so as not to alter its original character.

The area is surrounded by countless olive groves that highlight the previous use of the property. Its purchase is ideal for configuration as a hotel or even for use as a residence. The village has few houses and a cafe. Several tourists, however, visit this area as it is on the way to Paleochora, which is about 40 minutes away. Chania and Kissamos are approximately 30 minutes' drive away while the airport of Chania is about 40 minutes away.
