Those heading for a holiday to Europe to stay in a property they own on the continent could find some winter travel advice useful.

According to Sean Tipton, a spokesman from ABTA – The Travel Association, there are a number of ways in which holidaymakers can avoid problems with illness on trips.

He noted that "it is possible to an extent" for people to have stomach problems while they are away, but following "classic" advice such as avoiding salads which have been rinsed in water and sticking to bottled water can help to prevent this.

Those who own a property in France may find that stocking up on bottled water is an ideal way to avoid a holiday tummy bug and could also prove convenient for day trips to tourist attractions.

Mr Tipton went on to talk about the need for vaccinations to travel to certain parts of the world – however, those who wish to avoid such extra costs could find a holiday to a property in France ideal as Brits heading there need not have any such treatments.
