Stay in property in Spain and discover the country's diversityThere is a diverse range of landscapes just waiting to be explored from property in Spain, one newspaper has noted.

According to the Metro, many people could be surprised by some of the hidden gems they can find during a visit to the country.

Those looking for an active break may want to head to Tenerife – not for its beaches but for its volcano.

Mount Teide is the highest peak on the island at 3,718 m and the publication suggested that climbing it or walking in the surrounding area could be a great way to escape the tourist hotspots during a stay in property in Spain.

However, in April visitors will be able to witness the Tenerife Bluetrail event, which will see competitors taking on mountain races of varying difficulties and lengths.

For a more relaxing experience, visitors may want to spend time in Granada, where they will find the "jewel of Andalucia's Arabian past" – the Alhambra Palace.

In addition to the architecture, travellers can also seek out Arabian bathhouses and cafes in the city, as well as practising their bargaining skills at one of the medinas in the Albayzin district, the newspaper suggested.
