Travel agents should ensure they give tourists as much information as possible about vaccinations which Brits could need before taking a holiday, one sector group has urged.

According to the Post Office, many tourists are unsure about what medical protection they could be wise to get on a break, with countries including Slovenia and Bulgaria top of the list for most confusing to British holidaymakers.

Head of Post Office Travel Insurance Rachel Croft said: "Travel agents could do more in terms of promoting which vaccinations are needed at the point of booking the holiday, maybe by automatically including documentation that says you need these vaccines if you book a holiday or even a hotel in a place that needs it."

Brits who want to avoid any potential hassle with finding out about vaccinations, as well as the cost of having the injections themselves, could find that investing in a property in Italy allows them to head off on a break with no such worries.

Most travellers who are heading to an area of Italy which is well populated and not rural should find that they do not need any specific vaccinations for their trip.
