Property in Spain's interior could provide a different kind of holiday for people who are bored of Benidorm.

Carmen Hernandez Gomez, market analyst for the Spanish Tourism Office, explains that there is nothing wrong with Benidorm for a sunny break.

For many people, the resort could be the ideal location for property in Spain, thanks to its catering for British visitors.

"It's one of those resorts that's designed for British people to go on holiday abroad and enjoy nice weather, but they don't need to learn the language," the tourism official adds.

However, she suggests heading inland to witness the green interior of Spain, named "the vegetable garden" by locals.

Ms Gomez warns against judging Spanish destinations – such as Benidorm and the party island of Ibiza – based purely on their reputations.

She says that neither is entirely the way it is often perceived by British travellers based only on what they have heard.
