Recent developments in Altinkum are attracting an increasing number of British buyers, who are discovering that not only is property cheaper than other European destinations but the way of life is too.

“For starters, Altinkum has a smart new marina, which as well as hosting regattas is used for concerts,” said Julian Walker of leading agent Spot Blue. “Access is constantly improving, thanks to the new terminal at Bodrum Airport, which serves Altinkum, and improvements to all roads from Bodrum through to Izmir.”

Andy Probert, Altinkum resident and author of TurkeyBuyingGuide.com, adds: “The town is going through a bit of a revamp. New roads are being laid, trunk roads making better access to Bodrum airport are under way, the seafront has been revamped along with other developments, including the local electricity supplier deciding that the street lights of 25 years standing need freshening up. There are less power and water shortages, more sophisticated ways of dealing with the local infrastructure and promises by the local council that things will keep getting better.”

In addition, planning permission has been passed for five new 5-star hotels at the marina end of town, while there are plans for a golf course on the edge of the resort. Spot Blue is currently selling a selection of property in Altinkum, including two-bedroom apartments within walking distance of the centre and beach typically starting from £35,000.
