In an article for the Independent, Kathryn Tomasetti explained why this part of the nation is worth exploring.
She described it as being relatively untouched and home to sandy beaches on the coast and mountains further inland.
Ms Tomasetti also pointed out that the Var region is perfect for anyone who enjoys being active, particularly those who want to try adventurous sports.
As well as hiking and cycling, people staying in a property in France in this area can have a go at activities such as kite surfing, canyoning, scuba diving and kayaking.
"For fresh air, blue flag beaches and adventure activities by the dozen, the Var is perfectly poised to surprise," she stated.
