If you’ve been searching for property in Greece you may know about the frustrating opening times of the Acropolis.

Many have made the journey to the historical site, only to be faced with closed doors when they get there.

The announcement of the new opening hours was made by Greece’s culture minister, Pavlos Geroulanos earlier in May. He revealed the good news that the Acropolis will now open daily, from 8am to 7pm all year round. This has been seen as a positive step forward, by locals and tourists alike.

The UNESCO World Heritage site also has extended opening hours which benefits everybody, from the local shopkeepers, to the international visitors. Athens is such a lively, historic and authentic city, it is a top attraction that all visitors plan on going to when they are in Greece.

Following the announcement, the Ministry of Culture has also announced that many of the country’s museums and archaeological sites will be open to visit for longer hours suring the popular summer season. The list of sites includes the Thessaloniki’s Museum of Byzantine Culture and Archaeological Museum, and also the archaeological site of Knossos on the Greek island of Crete.
