Love it or loathe it, the hit reality show I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here returns to our screens this month. In a nod to the celebrities sweating it out together in the Aussie rainforest, we’ve picked five tropical destinations and found five homes fit for the next queen or king of the jungle…

Jungle home in Costa Rica

Costa Rica
From rainforests and volcanoes to unspoilt coastline and sweeping valleys, this exciting Central American country, frequently described as a paradise, is famous for its diverse natural landscapes. A pioneer of ecotourism and wildlife preservation, much of the country is protected as natural parks. Wherever you are there, you’re never far from the ocean – on one side is the Caribbean Sea and just 200 miles away is the Pacific Ocean, where mountainous forests slope down to unspoilt sandy beaches.

We’ve found this custom-built house nestled in the rainforest near Dominical, a beachfront town known for its surfing and colourful flora and fauna. Tucked in Costa Rica’s south Pacific corner, this area is known as the Costa Ballena and as well as the beaches, highlights include the Nauyaca Waterfalls, wildlife parks and mangroves. The property, surrounded by jungle, is built using local materials and its elevated location makes it ideal for tree-to-tree canopy walking and tree houses!

Tropical beach property in Kenya

Kenya
There’s more to Kenya than safaris and sweeping savannas dotted with elephants and other exciting game. Head to its Indian Ocean coastline and you’ll find glorious white beaches, much of them backing onto creeks, fringed by dense mangroves and surrounded by nature parks teaming with wildlife.

Ticking all of these boxes is the Kilifi area, just north of Mombasa, where exclusive beachfront homes look directly out across the warm ocean, such as this one we found for you. The property, complete with palm frond roofing, borders the Mida Creek marine reserve, which together with the adjoining Arabuko-Sokoke Forest forms a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

If you tire of that, then Tsavo National Park, Kenya’s biggest game reserve, is only a couple of hours’ drive away. The property, which has a total of six bedrooms, including an en-suite bungalow, has two swimming pools – one freshwater, the other saltwater. Or you can just roll into the ocean…

Exotic home in Ko Tao, Thailand

Ko Tao, Thailand
An idyllic tropical island, Ko Tao (Turtle Island) is less developed than better known Ko Samui 55 kilometres south. Much of its hilly interior is carpeted in lush tropical jungle, where the winding trails offer a fun way to explore and reach unspoilt corners of the island.

This exciting property encapsulates everything you’d want from an exotic location. In a private, elevated spot surrounded by jungle, it still has easy access to the beach and boasts glorious views of Sairee Bay and the Gulf of Thailand. Living space is flexible too, with the main residence comprising a large two-bedroom penthouse on one level, two self-contained one-bedroom apartments on another and a well-equipped games room below that. In addition, there is a separate one-bedroom bungalow.

As such, the property comes with rental opportunities. The vendors are also throwing in a Suzuki jeep, which the new owner can use for exploring the surrounding jungle!

Traditional style Caribbean bolt-hole

Carriacou, Caribbean
For many, the Caribbean is the go-to destination for all things tropical and Carriacou, which belongs to larger Grenada, won’t disappoint. One of the Spice Islands, it’s much quieter and less developed than the larger, better known Caribbean islands.

Carriacou is especially prized for its unspoilt coral reefs, which are heavenly for divers and snorkellers, and quiet bays suited to sailors seeking exclusivity and tranquillity. Meanwhile, much of its cosy interior comprises gently rolling verdant hills. Tucked amongst the lush scenery is this traditional ‘boat builder’ style home, complete with 0.5-acre tropical garden that includes and an independent cottage. Constructed using sustainable wood and in an authentic ‘A’ frame design, this charming south-east facing house comes with a fantastic veranda that looks out to sea – ideal for enjoying a rum punch after a hard day on the beach.
