In a nod to the ‘I’m a Celebrity’ contestants sweating it out in the Ozzie jungle, we’ve dug out some tropical properties that might just have you shouting, ‘I’m a buyer, get me over there…”

Casa Tranquila in Costa Rica

Costa Rica
Tucked away in the rainforest just off Costa Rica’s southern coastline is this fantastic hideaway, aptly named ‘Casa Tranquila’. The exotic property, which comes completely furnished, sits on its own 2.15-acre plot, surrounded by unspoilt natural scenery. Inside, the two bedrooms are separated by a common living area, including the kitchen, which leads to the large covered balcony, ideal for relaxing with a drink and listening to the noises of the forest. Stairs from the patio lead down to the swimming pool.

Casa Tranquila is not far from the village of Ojochal, which is regarded as a culinary hub in Costa Rica – so when you do venture from the depths of the forest, you know you’ll enjoy a good meal out, preferably after a day at one of the dreamy beaches on the nearby Ballena Coast. Beachside bliss in Bali

Bali
The Indonesian island of Bali offers everything you’d want from a tropical beach destination and looking at this heavenly villa, it’s easy to see why.
Nestling amongst coconut trees on a beach in the peaceful Tabanan area of Bali’s south coast, it has two en-suite bedrooms, a private pool and comes fully furnished. The stylish interior has been built with great attention to detail, using the finest local materials. It offers mod cons without losing touch of its natural environment – water is from a well, but there is internet and air conditioning.

The property is available on a 15-year lease and it comes with a licence to be let commercially. Tabanan is less developed than the coast further east on the island, so if owners can drag themselves away from gazing at the sea, they could pass the time trekking along forest trails, exploring the Sangeh Monkey Forest or visiting temples!

Grenadine Islands, Caribbean
For complete tropical tranquillity, try the Grenadine Island of Carriacou, known for its fantastic coral reefs. Built in a traditional boat-builder’s style using recycled timbers, this exotic south-east facing house is set amidst half an acre of lush gardens. As well as the two-bedroom main house, it includes a one-bedroom guest cottage.

A highlight of the property is its long verandah which offers sparkling sea views framed by trees and clear blue sky. The solar powered electricity and lack of mains water – water is stored in a tank – adds to its exciting sense of remoteness!

Forest hideaway in Mexico

Mexico
Hidden amongst the lush foothills of the Sierra Madre mountains, 45 minutes south of famous Puerto Vallarta, is a new development of built-to-order log cabins – your chance to relax in natural surroundings and choose the finer details of your tropical bolt-hole.

Each plot at the Tierra Alta project, near the town of El Tuito, is a minimum of 1,600 square metres. Buyers choose from a wide variety of cabin floorplans and then add their own custom features, subject to design review. Being inland and amidst the forest means the climate is less extreme – less humid and typically 10 degrees cooler – than on the coast in Puerto Vallarta. When not recharging in this tropical forest environment, owners can enjoy visits to El Tuito, where the pretty plaza offers a selection of traditional restaurants.
