People who own or are thinking about investing in property in Spain can take in the feast day of the country’s patron saint, St James, on July 25th.

The medieval walled city of Santiago de Compostela in north-west Spain becomes the focus of the celebration, with pilgrims from across the nation travelling there by foot.

For most of the week, there are street parties and concerts as travellers mix with carnival groups and the famous papier mache "big heads", What’s On When states.

The fiesta is also an opportunity for owners of property in Spain to take in both traditional and modern customs from the Galician region, as they are performed and remembered throughout the city.

A highlight of the festival sees Spain’s politicians and dignitaries come to the Praza de Obradorio to appeal to St James, or St Iago, for peace and prosperity.

Furthermore, the fireworks to honour the saint, known as the Fuegos de Apostol, are not to be missed, the site noted.
