The Costa la Luz offers investors in Spanish property cheaper prices than the national average, an expert has stated.

Marketing director for Spanish Algarve Properties Robert Shaw said the lesser cost of homes in the region is among the many attributes it possesses.

He also commented that the level of urbanisation is lower than many other coastal areas with overdevelopment avoided, enabling it to be "one of the most beautiful, traditional and undeveloped parts of Andalucia".

Mr Shaw added Huelva, the main city in the region, has 15 "truly outstanding" beaches, along with ten golf courses and other sport and leisure facilities.

Last week a court in Spain ruled that overseas buyers of Spanish property could not be charged a higher rate of capital gains tax should they sell it on.

Previously, Spaniards would have to pay 15 per cent and others 35 per cent, a disparity that the court ruled was in breach of European Union discrimination law.
