Spain has always been a firm favourite with the British going on holiday and moving abroad, so it comes as no surprise to hear that Spain has been named as one of the best places to live in Europe, following the latest ‘Quality of Life Index’ from uSwitch.

The index is based on several different factors and takes into consideration income, VAT, the cost of everyday essentials (such as fuel and food), hours of sunshine a day, holiday and work hours and life expectancy.

Spain came 2nd in Europe, losing the top spot to France. It gained very high points for obvious areas such as the sunshine hours, and also fared really well when it came to the number of days holiday per year. Spain also enjoys a longer life expectancy than the UK.

If you are thinking about buying property in Spain then you will be happy to hear about the latest index figures, especially if you are planning on retiring in Spain, as you can expect a much better quality of life. Interestingly, the UK scored lowest in the Index and 46 per cent of Britons polled said they had considered emigrating.
