Spain will reclaim its place as the most popular destination for Brits, the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO) has claimed.

Finding a property in Spain, whether to relocate or use as a holiday home, could place you in one of the most popular destinations in the world, as the economic uncertainty of recent years meant people have avoided eurozone countries until now.

Non-euro destinations like Turkey and Egypt had grown in popularity because of the weak pound and the favourable exchange rates available in these countries.

However, a spokesman for AITO, Ian Bradley, said that Spain will re-emerge as Brits’ favourite holiday spot by the end of the year.

"We know that by the end of the year, Spain will once again be by far the most popular holiday destination for our customers," he commented.

According to a survey from Wanderlust and AITO, 67 per cent of respondents were experiencing an increase in bookings this year.
