Back in the UK after a trip to the Costa Blanca, Liverpool couple David and Amanda Williams received a video tour of a townhouse from their Spanish estate agent via the Smart phone messaging service WhatsApp, enabling them to do a virtual viewing of the property. Liking what they saw, the couple quickly sent a deposit to secure the property and then flew out to Spain some weeks after in May 2014 to complete the purchase. The Williamses paid €72,500 (excluding fees and taxes) for their new home, which is in Guardamar del Segura, a resort between Torrevieja and Alicante known for its glorious sandy.
“We only went to the Costa Blanca for the first time in February 2014,” said David. “We loved the place, got to know the different areas and saw a range of properties with our estate agent HomeEspaña. When we were back in Liverpool, our agent stayed in touch, so when he found a property that he knew we would like, he sent us a video of it before it got snapped up, and the rest is history.”
The couple’s townhouse, which is on the El Raso complex, boasts a roof terrace, terrace, off-road parking and access to a shared swimming pool, while the beach is just 20 minutes’ walk away. David and Amanda expect to visit four or five times a year, when they will enjoy family holidays with their daughter Abby (15) and son Harry (8).
“When we first visited the Costa Blanca, our agent was thorough in showing us the different areas,” said David. “When we needed to send money from the UK to pay our deposit, they helped us open a bank account, then assisted us getting our NIE when we came back to complete in May. We also used a lawyer suggested by them, who we’re using again to do our Spanish wills.”
