Those owning Italy property may find booking trends for their holiday home altering following new research showing Brits are changing their holiday habits.

Two weeks in a Tuscany Italy property may well be usurped by a short vacation in Venice for many tourists, according to research from Visa Europe which shows Brits are taking an increasing number of mini-breaks.

Frances Tuke, spokeswoman for the Association of British Travel Agents said: "People are booking slightly shorter holidays and that has been a trend for a 14 night to ten night break."

However, Italy property owners should not worry that their bookings chart will be left bare as a result of shortened holidays, the organisation states.

Ms Tuke adds: "Ninety per cent of people who went on holiday last year went on holiday this year [and] there are still a lot of people taking overseas holidays too."

The Visa Europe study showed that 24 per cent of those surveyed who would normally book a two-week summer break have opted for a mini-vacation this year.
