Pulsano’s first beginnings were among the oldest property in Italy, constructed around the 14th century BC – the only Bronze Age dwellings to have been discovered on the Gulf of Taranto.

While more recent homes have been built in the region, the traditional buildings still provide the backdrop for some of the most significant Holy Week celebrations in the country.

On April 1st this year, the Pilgrimage of the Perduni is scheduled to take place at 17:00 local time as the Confraternity’s members wear hooded garments but no shoes and proceed to the Mother Church.

Meanwhile, on April 2nd, the Procession of the Mysteries at the Church of the Purgatory from 15:30 local time is expected to attract visitors from far and wide to Pulsano for an event described as both solemn and inspiring.
