Holidaymakers heading to property in Spain's capital city could find the destination "open and welcoming".

Airline operator Emirates explains that Madrid is widely regarded as one of Europe's most accommodating cities – as well as being one of its largest.

The scale of the city could be a further reason why travellers choose it as the location for their stay in property in Spain.

"Madrid is brimming with undiscovered treasures for visitors," Emirates says.

Among them is the Golden Triangle of Art, an area of galleries and museums at the heart of the city.

Madrid also provides a stop-off point for Britons seeking a continental transport hub, following the recent launch of new Emirates flight routes.

Emirates started operating a route between the city and Dubai on August 1st, the 104th destination served by the airline.

The flight journeys between the two destinations with no intermediate stops, marking the only non-stop route between Dubai and Madrid.
