More bookings were made to fly to property in Spain this summerSummer 2010 saw property in Spain come out on top in terms of popularity, according to lowcostholidays.com.

The travel website lists Majorca ahead of the pack as bookings rose by 50 per cent year-on-year.

However, it is not the only place where property in Spain has been in demand over the summer months.

In second place, Ibiza adds to the country's placings in the top five, with the Canary Islands also making the shortlist in fifth position.

Turkey and Egypt rank slightly higher than the Canaries, but the islands are singled out for mention as the "unexpected big winner" of the season.

Chief executive officer Paul Evans also notes a rise in bookings for long-haul destinations, including property in Florida.

The website adds that holidaymakers heading to Spain are spoilt for choice, with tapas and sangria among the food options and activities ranging from basking in the Balearics to a city break in Barcelona.
