Property in Portugal is witnessing a back-to-basics trend as 2011 beginsA back-to-basics approach could be seen in Britons' choice of property in Portugal over the coming year.

Nuno Aires, president of the Algarve Tourism Board, says many visitors are looking to get back to nature during their stay in property in Portugal.

As such, some of the country's most naturally beautiful areas – like the Natural Park of Ria Formosa – are suggested as ideal locations to visit.

The park benefits further from being along the coastline, with sandy beaches to visit for those planning a stay in the area.

Mr Aires says: "People are more and more focused on nature and the beautiful natural parts will grow [in demand].

"People are asking more and more for back-to-basics."

Meanwhile, the countryside of Portugal is home to more than 30 golf courses, allowing enthusiasts of the sport to enjoy a round in a slightly more engineered environment that still makes the most of the great outdoors.
