Wine, golf and spa breaks draw Britons to property in FranceA trio of attractions draw people to property in France from the UK, according to Bordeaux Tourisme.

Spokesperson Apolline Belondrade explains that wine and gastronomy in general are among the greatest draws for British holidaymakers.

However, the relaxation of the region’s spas and the sporting pursuit of golf also make the list.

Couples heading to property in France together can even share the two interests, if they so wish.

Ms Belondrade says: "For example, the Margaux Golf has various British clients. They also have a spa for the women to relax while men are playing golf."

However, whatever the reason for the visit, she urges travellers not to return to the UK without tasting the local delicacy of oysters.

In the centre of Bordeaux, La Boite a Huitre offers the freshest oysters of all in simple surroundings, she adds.

For an extra kick, Bordeaux’s Ice Bar is a more elaborate venue in which to partake of some frozen vodka.
