An increasing number of Brits have visited France this skiing season, according to easyJet.

Latest booking statistics revealed that five of the top ten winter sports destinations this year are located in France with Chamonix, Avoriaz, Meribel and Les Arcs 1800 taking all four top spots.

Finding a property in France may be the best way for skiers to provide themselves with a base from which they can access some of the best resorts in the world.

Vanessa Fisher, spokesperson for the Ski Club of Great Britain, said the industry had been worried that the French resorts would not do well this year but that has not turned out to be the case, as British skiers have been flocking to France.

"Places like Meribel and Val d’Isere – they fulfil all the criteria for what British Skiers are looking for. They’ve got large ski areas and the resorts are often connected to somewhere else," she said.
