People in search of an adventure holiday are still heading to property in France and Spain as the two destinations prove popular in the European market, says an AITO spokesman.

Ian Bradley, spokesperson for the Association of Independent Tour Operators, explains that the exact destination that will suit an individual depends on their adventurous aspirations.

He says: "It’s such a variety of different holidays out there that people are trying – that’s definitely on the increase."

For sailing holidays, for example, countries including Croatia and Greece can cater well to people’s needs.

But it is property in France and Spain that remains most likely to be filled with adventurous holidaymakers, in light of Mr Bradley’s comments.

Asked where the adventure holiday hotspots are, he replies: "We’re still looking at places like Europe – France and Spain are particularly the main ones."

However, he adds that there are very few countries worldwide where an adventure holiday cannot be arranged.
