Golf fans would be well-advised to invest in a piece of Portugal property, the world’s top tournament organiser has said.

According to the Professional Golfer’s Association (PGA), Portugal property presents the avid player with the opportunity to secure a home away from home next to some world-class courses.

David Brice, of Golf International, recommends "Portugal’s golf-rich Algarve Coast where the idea of a self contained golf retreat has been taken to higher levels than ever before."

"Names like Vila Sol, Vale do Lobo, Penina and Vilamoura, each a first rate resort with an emphasis on golf, may not as yet be household names to many, but that will just be a matter of time", he adds.

However, the original is still the best when it comes to golf resorts, according to Mr Brice, who states the Algarve’s 30-year-old Quinta do Lago is still ahead of the pack, offering golf lovers two championship courses and five-star Portugal property.

The next date on the PGA season schedule is the Barclays Tournament at Liberty National Golf Club, Jersey City, New Jersey, US.
