Anyone determined to make the most of what remains of the summer should head to a Portugal property on the Algarve, it has been claimed.

The unspoilt beaches offered by popular Portugal property region the Algarve have been recommended as the perfect spot for soaking up the last of the summer sun by the Telegraph.

The newspaper’s Fiona Hardcastle states: "The Algarve, with more than 3,000 hours of sun a year and an average temperature of 26C in September/22C in October, is the perfect last-blast-of-sunshine saloon.

"The coastline, which stretches approximately 100 miles from the westernmost tip to the Spanish border, is home to some of the most dramatic ochre cliff faces and unspoilt beaches in Europe."

She adds that many major airlines offer competitive prices for flights to the region’s main airport, Faro, with flight times usually lasting approximately two-and-three-quarter hours from most UK destinations.

A recent study by Conti found that Portugal property is the fifth most-enquired about holiday home location among potential investors.
