People seeking Portugal property may be interested to know that the Algarve has quite another side to it, it has been claimed.

According to property expert Laura Latham, the popular destination for expatriate Brits has a softer side hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the main towns, which can offer excellent value to those seeking Portugal property.

Writing for the Independent, she states: "There are quieter, cheaper areas with historic towns, rustic markets and golden beaches."

She adds: "The appetite for Portugal keeps growing. Though sales on the ever-popular Algarve have levelled off recently, there hasn’t been anything like the problems and price drops witnessed elsewhere."

Ms Latham attributes this to the country’s Government, which have ensured that all new Portugal property is built in accordance with demand, avoiding the problems created by an over-supply.

Portugal property in the Algarve offers residents and holiday-makers 200 km of coastline and 300 days of sunshine a year, with winter temperatures of 13 to 18 degrees Celsius and summers typically between 28 and 35 degrees.
