When you stay in a property in Portugal, you will not be short of things to see and do, it has been claimed.
In an article for the LA Times, Don Shirley described a break to the nation that he and his wife took.
After starting their trip in Lisbon, the couple travelled to the seaside resort of Baleal, which is home to a "tranquil beach and bay", as well as some stretches of more rugged coastline.
Mr Shirley also commented on the affordability of visiting the country, which may encourage more people to consider staying in a property in Portugal.
He went on to visit places such as Luso, Viseu and Evora, before continuing on to the Algarve.
Mr Shirley explained that they chose to avoid the beach resorts on the coast and instead stayed a little inland near the town of Silves, where they were able to enjoy walks in the countryside.
Amanda Lamb, presenter of A Place in the Sun, recently named Portugal as one of the top five places to buy a property abroad, noting that the Algarve is often popular because many people there speak English.
