Bulgaria is not the first place that would have sprung to mind if I was thinking of taking in a musical concert…but perhaps I need to rethink this!

Last year the list of visiting musicians was impressive; Bob Dylan, Elton John, Julio Iglesias, Natalie Cole, Scorpions, AC/DC and Deep Purple’s Jon Lord were just a few of those who played in Bulgaria.

This year promises to be just as exciting, with names such as Jamiroquai and the legendary Joe Cocker ‘in the house’. It will be part of Joe Cocker’s Hard Knocks Tour, in which the 66-year-old English rock musician will present songs from the album of the same name, as well as his best known hits “You Can Leave Your Hat On” and “Unchain My Heart” – a real blast from the past. So too is Swedish duo Roxette, who will no doubt sing their Top Gun hit “Take my breath away”.

Our very own Sting will play his third concert in Bulgaria, this time accompanied by an entire symphony orchestra as part of his Symphonicity World Tour. There’s something for heavy metal fans in July with the Judas Priest, and later in the year is the Spirit of Burgas Festival; held in August. American DJ, Moby, will be there among others – and of course you may also be lucky enough to hear Poli Genova, Bulgaria’s entry to the Eurovision song contest!

Perhaps it’s time to start planning that property viewing trip around an exciting musical event!
