Property in Spain's El Rocio is to fill with pilgrims this monthProperty in Spain‘s pilgrim destination of El Rocio is due to see its annual influx of worshippers this month.

From May 19th to 24th, the arrivals are expected into El Rocio, according to the Andalusia tourism website.

"After travelling on pilgrimage on foot, horseback or in carts to any of the different roads, a huge crowd of devotees from various hermandades reach the gates of the shrine," the site advises.

Hermandad is the Spanish word meaning ‘brotherhood’ and is now associated with the individuals who process through the streets carrying statues or making other displays of their worship.

On Monday, they launch a good-natured assault against an iconic property in Spain‘s pilgrimage destination as part of the "jump grille" tradition.

This sees them launch a siege against the Santuario Nuestra Senora del Rocio, removing the Virgen del Rocio or "Blanca Paloma" and parading her through the streets as part of the annual tradition.
