Golf’s Portuguese Open is to take place from April 2nd to 5th at Estoril, when fans of the sport will be able to see some top names in action.

The Professional Golfer’s Association (PGA), which runs the tournament, has stated that there is €1,250 (£1,170) worth of prize money available to successful players in the event.

With such sums on offer, the tournament has attracted many big names down the years, with recent winners including Paul Broadhurst, Miguel Angel Jimenez and Fredrik Jacobson.

The event may also be of interest to Portugal property investors, as the sport plays a major part in tourism in the country.

As well as golf, some may be attracted to the Portugal property market by the prospect of having their homes powered by green energy.

Portugal’s government has set a target for 60 per cent of the country’s electricity to be generated by renewable means by 2020, Obelisk Investment Property reported earlier this month.
