Brits looking to migrate to Australia have been advised to apply for a visa as soon as possible before new regulations are introduced by the Australian Government.

Sammy Naghi, a registered agent who runs Emigrate-to-Australia.co.uk, recently said the implementation of the new system, which goes live on July 1 and is called SkillsSelect, will be an extra hurdle for potential migrants, mainly because applicants will have to lodge an “Expression of Interest” (EOI).

“We advise people to apply now as the current system is known and familiar,” said Naghi. “I think SkillsSelect is a contributing factor to the 500 per cent year-on-year increase in applications we saw at the start of 2012. But perhaps more significant is the current state of the UK economy, which has been getting worse and worse over the past few years. The strength of the Australian economy which is offering low unemployment and the growth in many states make it very appealing to would be migrants.”

Particular skill sectors where jobs for migrants in Australia currently are the most prevalent include construction, engineering health and IT.

“There is definitely a huge shortage of skilled migrants,” added Naghi. “In states like Western Australia, with all the mining and construction in progress and in the pipeline, there really are many jobs and opportunities across many industries. Smaller States like the Australian Capital Territory are also in need of many skilled migrants as well.”

Anyone planning to emigrate to Australia is advised to seek advice from an experienced registered migration agent, such as Sammy Naghi at Emigrate-to-australia.co.uk.
