French property investors have been advised that the current market presents a good opportunity to buy.

VEF, the French property portal, stated that some investors may be discouraged by the current unfavourable exchange rate of the pound against the euro.

However, the website suggested that due to the current economic climate it is a buyer’s market and vendors are willing to listen to offers from investors if they are keen to sell up quickly.

"There has never actually been a better time to buy your dream home in France," VEF commented, adding that British vendors who are moving back to the UK or selling their holiday home are the most likely to accept a lower asking price.

This news follows a recommendation to buy French property in the current climate from Patrick Joseph, founder and director of my-french-house.com.

He said buying a house in the country is a "safe investment".
