Tourism agency Atout France says it is little wonder that property in France continues to prove popular with skiers.
Already the snow on some slopes in the country is two metres deep, while on and off-piste depths in all of its resorts are at 80 cm or more.
Cost-effective ways to head to property in France to enjoy some winter sports include self-drive holidays and midweek trips, the French Government Tourist Office suggests.
Booking well in advance is also useful – which can simply mean February 2011, rather than looking further ahead to the 2011-12 season.
All of the country's resorts in the Vosges, Pyrenees and Alps are open for business at present, with "excellent snow conditions" reported, Atout France adds.
With the combination of these favourable conditions and the kind of offers that can be found over the coming months, the organisation adds that it is unsurprising that ski trips in France are "a veritable British tradition" for many people.
