If you are, or you plan on being soon, you will no doubt be pleased by Eurostar’s recent announcement that they will be launching a “scenic route” come summer 2013.

“La Route de Soleil” will take passengers from the heart of London at St Pancras and will stop off in Lyon, Aix en Provence and Avignon. The route is set to launch in summer, just in time to coincide with the holiday season.

The new route will undoubtedly spell good things for those lucky enough to own a holiday let in these beautiful and popular tourist destinations. A short transfer time of just five hours and the availability of great value tickets will mean that tourist numbers are set to rise as more people choose the region for their summer break.

Of course, if you have no desire to hop off in the new stops you can opt instead for the traditional ticket which has been carting passengers non-stop from London to Avignon for the last 11 years.

In addition, if you have been thinking about buying in the South of France, now may just be the time to do it – before house prices rise along with tourism rates.
