Owners of property in Cyprus who live in the south of England will welcome Ryanair’s introduction of six new, year-round flights to Paphos from London Stansted.

The new route will operate four times a week from London Stansted to the popular Cypriot holiday destination on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.

Lucie Robson, writer of the CyprusBuyingGuide.com and island resident spoke out over just how handy these flights will be to the expat population of Cyprus: “The announcement of the new Ryanair flights means great things for all the holiday homeowners who will now be able to visit on a more regular basis because of the cheaper flights. It will also increase tourism to the area meaning great things for those who own holiday rentals and local businesses. The island’s expats are also rejoicing because it means that they can visit their friends and family back home much easier”.

As well as flying to London, Ryanair have announced additional services to Rome, Venice, Pisa, Oslo and Lithuania and they have decided to base two aircraft at Paphos International Airport.

A spokesperson for the Paphos Regional Board of Tourism said: “Already we have registered benefits to the local economy which have emerged after the first flights started. The service sector is also seeing an improvement in trade”.

Ryanair has a fleet of over 250 aircraft which undertake 1,400 daily flights, connecting 160 destinations. Airport operator, Hermes and Ryanair project that, over the course of one year, an additional 600,000 visitors will come to the island on these new flights.

The budget carrier already had services from Larnaca but it expanded its services to Paphos airport following implementation of a plan aimed at enticing airlines to introduce flights or increase their existing service volume.
