A trend for taking shorter holidays after getting married – and then saving up to head off on a longer and more exotic break in the future – could be good news for those who rent out their property in France to tourists.

The ongoing recession and the trend for being frugal is seeing newlyweds cutting back on their time away after their nuptials – and this could mean that a holiday to a nearby location such as France or Spain becomes a popular choice.

Both countries are easy to reach by plane from the UK and with many airlines now running their January sales, this month is a great time for Brits to seek out cheaper flights and jet off for a break in a property in France.

Commenting on minimoons, director at Wedding Ideas magazine Rachel Southwood said that this year, honeymooning Brits will be choosing city breaks or holidays involving snow – which could make a holiday to a property in a French ski resort ideal.
