French property could make a grand impression on art-loversArt-lovers who move to property in France could find themselves living in the very cradle of Impressionism.

The French Government Tourist Office explains that Monet’s Impression – Sunrise, the piece that began the art movement in 1872, was painted in Le Havre.

For many people, the chance to live in property in France that overlooks the same stretch of water and see the sun rise over silhouetted boats, as pictured by Monet in his infamous work, could be reason enough to move to Normandy.

But this summer the appeal could be even greater, as an itinerary of 200 events has been drawn up to help celebrate the Impressionist movement in style.

The Normandy Impressionist Festival is not only centred on museums and galleries, but also on the River Seine, with boat trips planned.

Picnics and bars are also on the schedule as the region pays its respects to Impressionism through its food and drink.
