Owners of Italy property have been given a number of tips for letting out their homes.

Speaking to Shelter Offshore, lawyer and property consultant Alison Harris suggested a number of ideas Italy property owners can take on board to ensure their investment is a success.

Ms Harris stated that those hoping to let out their house should create a website that includes a number of pictures of the residence, a map of the area, details of transport links and "honest" estimations of travel times and distances.

Furthermore, it may be prudent to employ a gardener to tend to the outside of the property so that it is presentable, she advised.

And it may be possible to hire a local person to greet the guests on arrival, clean the house ready for changeover and be on hand to answer any questions, Ms Harris added.

This advice may become relevant to an increasing number of people following a recent survey by Cater Allen Private Bank.
