Mid-season is the best time for Italy property seekers to go househunting in the famous city, it has been claimed.

Spring and autumn are said to offer the most favourable weather conditions for those planning on doing a lot of legwork – be it to cram in the city’s famous sights, seek the perfect Italy property or simply to get to the gondola on time.

Spokesperson for the Italian State Tourist Board Alessandra Smith, states: "[Venice] is more pleasant in mid season as in the summer it can be very hot.

"As [with] many places in Italy, springtime and early autumn are very pleasant. You can find tourists, but not as many."

She added that some sights Italy property hunters should be sure not to miss include lesser-known attractions such as the old Jewish ghetto and the island opposite St Mark’s Square.

The Italian State Tourist Board further advises visitors to plan in advance when visiting popular attraction St Mark’s Square, as the canal system around it can become very busy in peak season.
