The Italian Minister of Tourism, Mrs Michela Vittoria Brambilla, has put forward her plans to increase tourism to the country by between 10 and 20% over the course of the next four years. Magic Italy on Tour, Italia.it, and Project BRIC, all make up the new incentive.

Brambilla urges the Italian people to ‘discover’ their own country more and the campaign is voiced also by the Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi. Magic Italy is a road show which will be touring around European cities, 19 in 11 different countries, and is designed to enhance destinations and products from within the Italian system. It also aims to highlight Italy’s expertise in fields such as art and food.

So, it would seem that tourism may be set to rise in Italy over the coming years. If this happens, it is likely that house prices will rise as the demand gets stronger. Now is the best time to buy, or perhaps if you already own an Italian holiday home; now might be the right time to look into renting it out to tourists. Perhaps investing in another property would be the ideal, especially if you have permanently relocated to Italy. Of course, remember to shop around and don’t pay over the odds for a property if you don’t believe it is worth it.
