Midsummer sees a fiery spectacle take place in the middle of Lake Como as part of the celebration of the feast of St John, something that may interest Italy property seekers.

Isola Comacina is set alight in a blazing re-enactment of the events of June 24th 1169, when the people of Como attacked and destroyed a community that lived on the island and had sided with Milan, burning down the settlement.

The event has been marked with plenty of ceremony and flames for hundreds of years, providing what may be a memorable event for visitors and Italy property seekers in the Italian Lakes region.

Those keen to buy property in the country will have many opportunities to enjoy a taste of history and culture as they do so.

Other events held in June include the medieval festival in the Tuscan town of San Gimignano, which features plenty of juggling, jousting and acrobats.
