One of Europe’s fastest-growing airlines, Norwegian Air Shuttle, has just announced plans to establish a base at Gatwick Airport in spring of 2013.

With such cheap fares available, expats and second home-owners will be delighted with the introduction of an increased number of discounted flights to destinations including Spain, making it easier to take a quick, cheap break or visit friends and family across Europe without breaking the bank.
Norwegian Air already has close to 100 departures a week from Gatwick but from spring, they will be basing three of their aircraft at the busy airport on a permanent basis. They will be increasing the frequency of existing routes to Scandinavia and will introduce 14 new direct routes to the Mediterranean and Southern Europe. Destinations include Alicante, Faro, Nice and Rome.
As well as attracting fares from expats and second-home owners, the increased volume of flights is expected to draw attention from business travellers looking for good value airfares for day trips to key destinations in Scandinavia and across Europe.
The last three years have seen significant improvements at the Sussex airport. Close to £650 million has been spent on new facilities aimed at improving the passenger experience including improvements to departure lounges and the introduction of award-winning business traveller facilities.
