Sofia is buzzing – and enjoying some serious press attention – following the arrival of some of Hollywood’s biggest film stars, who pitched up in the Bulgarian capital last week for the filming of a blockbuster movie.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris and Jason Stratham have all been sighted around the city, as they’re out and about between film shoots for the much anticipated sequel to The Expendables, due out next year.

The exact movements of the stars during their Bulgarian visit are unknown but Schwarzenegger is reported to have remarked on how beautiful Bulgaria is. The question is whether any of the stars might be tempted into investing in property there, not just in Sofia but one of the coastal or ski resorts, especially given that property prices have fallen since the peak of the market four years ago.

If they’re looking for a buy-to-let investment, Sofia would be a good starting point. Agent Bulgarian Properties, which does lettings, recently reported an increase in demand for rental apartments from students. Sofia is a hub for foreign and Bulgarian students but also has a market for young professionals looking for accommodation.
