If you’re looking for a Spanish property with a strong chance of holding its value, the message from a leading developer is to buy somewhere that’s on or next to a golf course.

Taylor Wimpey de Espana has revealed that despite typical prices for properties not near a golf course falling by around 30-35% during the downturn, comparable properties in golfing areas have fallen by 20%.

From a financial perspective, a property on a golf course can be a very sound investment. Golf in most of Spain can be played throughout the year, giving opportunities to generate a year-round rental income through golf tourism, popular with Brits, Scandinavians and Germans, as well as Spaniards.

Ignacio Osle, sales and marketing director of Taylor Wimpey de España, said: “Los Arqueros Golf and Country Club, an 18-hole course designed by the Spaniard Severiano Ballesteros considered one of the best players in the world, is one example of a quality golf course that has performed remarkably well.”
