The Midi-Pyrenees region is popular with British buyers of French property, the region’s tourist board has said.

Marketing and communications official for the Midi-Pyrenees Tourist Board Solenne Odon remarked that this particularly applies to the Lot area.

She commented: "It has many charming villages such as Rocamadour and St-Cirq Lapopie which are very impressive. Cieurac is very popular for the wine so British people like it."

Ms Solon noted that Lot is well served by Tolouse Airport, which is just an hour’s drive away.

British buyers seeking French property could consider investigating the possibilities that exist in the vicinity.

The region may be popularised more this year as 2009 is the International Year of Astronomy, a field that the Midi-Pyrenees is strongly associated with, according to the New in Midi-Pyrenees press pack.

Another item in the pack states that the area has the second largest share of the French housing market for a region with no coastline, standing at 4.5 per cent.
