More than 35,000 British people now own a home in Turkey, accounting for just under a third of the total 110,000 foreign owners in the country.

Recent figures from Turkey’s Land Registry also showed that German and Greek people topped the country’s foreign ownership list with Brits, and that
the Antalya region on the south coast is the most popular area with more than 40,000 foreign homeowners. The Mugla region was the second favourite area.

The Antalya region includes the city of Antalya, home to one of the Mediterranean’s busiest airports which receives year-round flights from the UK, and the resorts of Belek, Side and Alanya.

“Belek has evolved into Turkey’s golfing hub, where you can buy affordable apartments or villas with good access to championship golf courses,” said Julian Walker of agent Spot Blue. “Side is popular with British people looking for a small, family friendly resort that combines history – it has beautifully preserved Roman ruins, beaches and enough amenities without it being over-developed. Alanya is a much larger bustling beachside town which suit would those like a lively environment.”

Typically, quality (two-bedroom) apartments in Side start from around £55,000, rising to around £130,000. Expect to pay a bit less in Alanya.
