With the colder months fast approaching, people planning to spend Christmas in property in Italy might be considering booking their flights if they have not already done so.

Low-cost airline operator Ryanair claims that flights to property in Italy, Germany and Poland in time for the festive season are selling fast.

Other destinations proving popular include the Canary Islands, leading the company to schedule additional passenger capacity.

Spokesman Stephen McNamara says: "It is just three months to Christmas and our Christmas flights are already booking up fast, so we have added over 550 extra flights."

Reasons for travelling range from heading home in time for the big day itself, to sneaking out to the slopes for some Christmas skiing.

The news follows a celebration for Ryanair on September 14th as, on that day, it reached the landmark milestone of carrying its 100 millionth passenger on routes to or from Italy.
